от фр bloc-notes = блок записей, сократилось от bloc de papier à notes = блок бумаг для записей
Даже текстовый редактор Блокнот (Notepad который) в французском Windows зовётся Le Bloc-notes.
Прямо как Le Big Mac в "Криминальном чтиве" :)
